Greek Melbourne beat maker & DJ, Pete Cargo has toured with hip-hop heavyweights MF Doom, Ghostface Killah, Chino XL, Dead Prez and many other international acts.
This eclectic mix of dub/reggae, soul, drum & bass & footwork is sure to get your head nodding during your daily commute on the metro.

Where do you find your music inspiration?
Everywhere really. Anybody making forward thinking art. Music or paintings whatever.
My family, watching old movies, working a shitty job, discovering a new artist.
It all inspires me in some way… the good, the bad, all of it.

Who are some of your favourite artists at the moment and why?
Really feeling what Iman Omari, Quelle Chris and the Vibe Music Collective are doing.
I just started listening to drum n bass again after having stepped away from it for a long time,
so I’ve been going back and re-listening to a lot records I bought when I was a kid…
A lot of Dope Dragon/Full Cycle stuff. RP BOO, Traxman…
There’s some really good footwork coming out of Japan and the UK.
It kind of reminds me of when I first heard jungle.
Anything by Ever In Lo and Ta’raach!

What’s one of your most memorable moments as a DJ?
They have all been memorable in some way or another and I appreciate all of them.
Getting a call from J-Red at my part time job when i was a teenager telling me I got my first residency.
I think he told my manager it was the police or something like that… Shout out to J-Red!
Also having pancakes with Chino XL and MF Doom after a gig in Perth was a bit of a trip.

What do you like best about Athens?
I was there in ’06 and the first thing I noticed was that it was bombed!! That was pretty cool. You can tell a lot about a city from the amount of graffiti that is on the streets.
It’s crazy that it is such an ancient city on one hand with some of the most famous landmarks in the world, and on the other it has a very urban/modern/gritty feel to it.

How do you describe the city to friends that have never been?
Pretty much the same as above. Spend some time, go exploring and find something.

How would you describe this mix?
I don’t get the chance to play music much at the house, so for this mix I just had fun letting some of the tracks play a little longer and vibing out.
There are a few older tracks in there, a couple of new ones and some made by friends.
Lately I have sort of been playing that slow/fast steez so there’s a bit of that in this mix. Also some badman bizness towards the end.
Hope you enjoy.
